You say its solveable, and I disagree

Postby Guerrilla Guy » Wed Feb 14, 2007 6:07 pm

OK the laptop that I could play CC on is gone, and now I am back to a family PC who loves that little "Cannot Access Surface for Lock" Warning. The only problem is that I have tried every single thing you say on this forum to do, but it does nothing! Here are my stats:

ASUS AGP V3800M 32MB Graphics Card
Intel P. 4
Windows XP (5.1 Build 2600)
Directx 9.0c
1024x768 16bb Color (both game and Computer Resolutions, checked and set)
Realtek AC '97 for VIA Audio Controller, Driver 5.10.0.5490

I have:
- Disabled Direct 3D and Direct Draw
- Adjusted Hardware Acceleration on all notches in all Resolutions and in Win 95, Win 98, and Win 00 Compatibility Modes
- Downloaded the most recent Driver(s) for my Graphics Card (ASUS Website):
V1.19 (Fixes Capture Display Abnormal Issues) -- 2003/02/25 update
V31.40H (Add New ID support New Graphic Card) -- 2003/01/06 update
V1201/2002 (AGP Vgart Driver for Win98/ME/2K/XP) -- 2002/12/30 update
- Used the CCStarter Utility
- Close to groveling on the floor

Is there any other fix I am not thinking of???

Thanks,
GG

Have you tried sliding Hardware Accelaration back to FULL?
Disable direct-draw, but don't adjust Hardware Accelaration...keep it at full. On my system turning down Hardware Acceleration causes the "Cannot Access Surface for Lock" error.

schrecken: Yes all maps... Now when I downloaded the Plugin Manager and Okinawa Plugin and tried it, it told me that the "Disk was full" And in order to play I needed to make more diskspace available, and I have 1/4 of my diskspace open. I thought the way to fix this was by upgrading your hardware?

Squadleader: Yes All positions on the slider bar. I have even tried it with Direct Draw on...
