Last week I did some updates, no problems.
But I never liked the way those are DL/installed.
I use "notify me but don't automatically download or install them" option.

One minor problem. The noose is obviously tightening on the software piracy front. "Windows Genuine Advantage" is becoming progressively more invasive and on Saturday night it decided that my XP was not genuine. This was somewhat galling as it is.

It made no difference to the function of the machine though and did not prevent me logging on later to download more updates, so maybe it corrected itself.

Any more news on the "Close Combat on Linux" front?

Want to remove Microsoft's WGA Notifications? Here's how to do it safely and smartly.
Here just one link, there is also more:

And, yes, I have meant taxes for protection, on the other thread

Thanks for the link. I'm going to try it out at she-who-must-be-obeyed's. WGA has completely buggered her machine. A case for Ubuntu if ever there was one.

As for protection, the Irish don't pay for this, so why should we?

My problem was that for 2 straight weeks I was getting the same download over & over & over agin.

I disabled it and figured I'd go back in a week or 2 and just run the scan myself.
