Yep, he only needed one tank as the hammer, the other tank was the anvil. A real David and Goliath story this one. Fox in a chicken coop, choose your metaphor.

Wouldnt a "David and Goliath story" mean your last man knocked out both of his tanks and routed the rest of his men single-handedly?

Like that would ever happen. An Italian doing something well in a war. Hahahaha...

To those of who who might be offended, I was kidding.

Q.M and I have been having a real knockdownanddragthemout GC but the Matildas make it one sided where they are involved

in the last battle Q.M fired upon one from very short range with his infantry gun and all that happened was "clang"

based on my reading the performance of the Matildas in the mod is fairly realistic

I think arty and air to immobilize them is likely the answer for the eye ties, or run like hell

Hey you guys!
I was looking at africa mod. At i see there are fake tanks. They only have one or two crew members with no weapons. Paresumably used for diversions and fake attacks.
How do you find the use of fake tanks?

Have they come in handy much.

When I was testing this "idea" out I was using them as a diversion to draw fire from likely AT gun positions. Then bring in the real tanks to take out the guns. Since the AT guns have very limited visibility (i.e. difficult to see) this is useful. I'd imagine in r/l this was a similar use.

They were also used to "enlarge" otherwise small forces and make the enemy think twice about attacking. Obviously that has no application here. Another use was to draw fire from attacking enemy airplanes. Their use wasn't very widespread and I couldn't find any indication that their use was all that successful.

Their limited use in r/l is why I didn't include more than one in the entire GC. I included them as more of a "oh yeah and this was something that happened in the war in africa as well.". There are a handful of similar things throughout the GC. The use of tunnels on certain maps is another such element. Not much practical use within CC since levels aren't handled very skillfully but in r/l they were critical in preserving your troops from air and artillery attacks and fairly widespread. In and around Tobruk there was a hospital set-up inside of one that saved many lives.

Great. Thank you
If i ever get a Africa GC going i might try them out. I think they would be best used if you didnt need any other unit.
Like i would never replace a MG gun for a fake tank.

However on the GJS guide it says a trick to use is:

*
Make a first attack witha few infantry teams (and maybe a tank to make it more real) in an area you only want to defend. After first contact, withdraw your
units a bit or just defend the spot, but keep the enemy busy over there. Meanwhile you have prepared your real attack in another sector. And you can start it
after you have noticed some enemy troops are ordered to the other (first attack) sector.
*

Yea use a (fake) Tank to make the bogas attack look more real.

Try it out mayb?
It could work well? Or just be **** :D

Lol great AAR!
