I've followed the instructions to the letter and the good news is, COI doesn't crash.

However the summer colours look like something out of the Napoleonic wars or more likely, from the circus.

The winter colours are not affected at all using these offsets so in winter you get Germans v Russians as opposed to Spaniards v Spaniards.

If you can recommend a screenshot program I'd post the results.

I'll have another go at it this evening and if it still looks as ridiculous then I'll send you the cc3.exe.

Ultima OUSO screenshot utility (freeware) has been a common standard for years http://www.hh.iij4u.or.jp/~kmatuoka/uosu/indexe.html

Start from the hex 00 just before the FC FD FB series at 1455447 Decimal - 0x163579 Hex and go 2048 bytes to the last 00 before the 0a 01 01 01 series at 1455483 Decimal - 0x16357B Hex.

Copy that to CoI's hex 00 just before the FC FD FB series at 1532411 Decimal - 0x1761FB Hex to 1534459 Decimal - 0x1769FB Hex (same 00 end just before the 0a 01 01 01 series) to get the winter uniforms in. Sorry, missed that in my notes.

If you are still get funny colors, back off one more byte for the starting copy and paste to. Especially if CC3 is showing what you want to have.

As long as the two sections have the exact same start and end hex values being used and the copy is the exact same size as the area it is pasted over, it should work right.

I think drill is right... my doc shows standard uniforms only...not winter.

The summer colours seem to be working ok. I've got GCE COI mod up & running now thanks to your advice.

I'll try the winter uniforms this evening.

Having similar problems with winter colours as previously... clown uniforms when I follow the offfsets given. One of the offsets must be slightly out. I've tried copying larger chunks eg 2052 bytes, this seemed to work with summer colours but each time I try that the exe crashes.

How has it worked out for you, normski? The end point of the offsets might be the thing messing you up. If so, do an edit on the #56 color set in CC3 to be outlandish colors. They will show up then in the Hex Editor as quite different than in CoI and will show you the correc point to end the copy/paste block.

Attached is an unfinished compilation of the CC series uniform colors from all the sources that I have.

Thanks Drill.

This exercise has exposed defects in the original CC3 mod (ie I didn't create winter colours for every summer colour, relying too much on rarity values). So the need to rectify that has been added to the to do list & delayed further work on winter colour transfer.

Anyway I'll have a go at the final byte test & report back.

Cheers

Hmm...
How do I edit soldier colours in CCMT?

Use the attached. Point the .exe to the UniformColor.txt file in the \Data\Base folder.

Check the Uniform tab in the workbook for the *Team.txt file Stlye column associated with each of the color sets. Note that there are only 9 Styles with only 0 to 4 having three color sets. Style 5, 6, 7 and 8 have only one each and use the same uniform and weapon color for all weapon types.

There are three uniform color combinations for each style based on the type of map:

Color sets 0 to 18 - woodland, or 'normal' maps
Color sets 19 to 37 - snow maps
Color sets 38 to 56 - desert maps

If you are going to use a color set from CC5 or earlier, also note that Cpl Filth's SLDCOLOR.exe lists out the colors in Blue, Green, Red order and CCMT Uniform Color Editor.exe lists them in Red, Green, Blue order, so you need to transpose the numbers. Other than that, they work the same.

CCMT's map code numbers used in the map's .txt file are also a bit different than CC5 or earlier for both uniform and vehicle camo patterns.

0 = SCN_MAP_WEATHER_CLEAR = Default uniform color
1 = SCN_MAP_WEATHER_LT_MUD = Default uniform color
2 = SCN_MAP_WEATHER_LT_SNOW = Snow uni / colors
3 = SCN_MAP_WEATHER_DEEP_SNOW = Snow uni / colors
4 = SCN_MAP_WEATHER_DESERT = Desert uni / colors

I wanted to experiment editing soldier uniforms of the CC5 demo.
I've already tried Soldier Color Editor with no luck :(

How would I go about finding the uniform color offsets for the CC5.exe from the CC5 demo?
Just by finding strings that match those of the 5.01 CC5.exe?

Yes. Searching for the string FC FD FB 00 will find you the start point. You will only need to do the first 28 color style sets, or 1044 bytes as winter uniforms camo doesn't work in CC5.

Thanks for the info.

Hmm...
I'm trying to edit the soldier colours and I usually get colours that are completely different from RGB values entered.

Also, the colour editor tends to crash very often when I'm changing fields..
