Pixia

Pixia was originally designed in Japanese but English versions now exist for this rich editor. Although the original focus was on anime/manga, it is a very capable editor in general. Some of the features are a little counter intuitive, but there are plenty of English tutorials available now if you want to give it a shot.

Its funny, in the years since I stopped makign CC maps, I went heavy into Fireworks as my editor.. but now getting curious it doesn't have the tube and brush functions that are critical to make maps so much easier like the free programs listed above have!

I always preferred Fireworks, but there are just some things it doesn't do.

So its really a question of what you prefer, Photoshop is great, but steep learning curve, also there is the price tag lol.

Have several versions of PSP. Have tried most of the above programs out, they are good, again its a question of what you feel comfortable using!
