Playing OLD Original CC games CC1 thru CCV on Win 7/8/10 - S

The best way to play ANY old game is using an emulator or virtual system. This is BY FAR SIMPLER than any workaround or other way of playing the games as using an emulator or virtual PC you are playing the game in its native environment. the above, using dosbox or Nglide is much harder to do, as installing an old copy of CC3 onto win 10 will fail, the install doesn't recognise win 10 as an OS that it can install onto. There are may other ways around, simply find an installed version, take the install directory and a registry hack and then run it, but this will still give you issues such as format on stream or other errors.

By installing VirtualBox and Win 95, you are creating the exact software environment that CC was designed to run on. Both VirtualBox and Win 95 are available for download from CSO. - Good Luck Sulla ; )

Almost every operating system nowadays is a 64 bits system. Software for Windows 95 or 98 is made for 32 bits DOS systems. The simplest way to get ANY old game to run is to install virtual box [familiar to Linux and Mac gamers] and install a copy of Windows 95 within that virtual PC on your win 7/8/10 modern PC. If you have an old copy of Win 95 or a friend does, install virtual box and then install Win 95, you can then play ALL your old games without any issues.

VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2. See "About VirtualBox" for an introduction.

Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, Macintosh, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x and 4.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, and OpenBSD.

Microsoft allow all versions of windows as free downlaods apart from XP upwards. You can download them from various places. QUOTE "Microsoft has asserted their copyright status regarding Windows XP. WinWorld respects this and therefore will not host Windows XP."
