Default CCIV Monte Cassino help needed..............

I wasnt sure if the CCIV forum alone would get enough attention so I thought i'd let you'all know there's some fellas making a Monte Cassino mod for CCIV and from what I have seen it is a first class lokking mod,and naturally they are in need of people who would be interested in making some maps for the mod.
If interested in helping here are the links:

Interesting, as CSO_Axrael and I were halfway through CC5 Italy, which includes the battles in and around Monte Cassino.

Unfortunately, Ax joined the royal navy and hasn't been seen since.

Hi Folks!

errr.. my first post, though I am here for some 2 + years

Wow! Things go on their own, and our mod starts to be known here too! cool!

We were quite silent till today, as we wanted to go public when we have a sort of beta at least. It's not ready yet, so it's not us who give the first ring about it .

Ok, I am a member of the mod makers team. We decided to do something with the great CC IV, and the choice was Monte Cassino.

Bassically our idea was to reconstruct the fourth battle of MC, eg May 12 - 18 1944, which refers to Polish 2nd Corp egagement out there. This is our primary goal. But after some seroious debate we decided to give the mod higher potential, so we decided to adjust the strategic map to make it possible to create submods on all the battles starting from Februray 1st, i.e. the first American offensive over the Rapido, then brave New Zaelanders, Hindu and so on..)

(thread: http://jagdtiger.mm.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3086, unf. in polish, but u can see the map evolving.

At the moment we have most of the ingame graphics done (like the viehicles: http://jagdtiger.mm.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1656) (evolving from the page 1 to 8), voices, sounds. At the moment we're working on the tactic maps.

Michael, who started this thread (thanks!) already visited us asking how the things are. I told him We needed mapmakers, but it looks like Kruger, who is our tactic maps boss, can handle the thing at the monent, so thanks a lot for the initiative and sorry for confusing you at the same time

Anyway, if we can not handle the thing ourselves, we would be happy to adress this Forum for potential help.

If you folks have more questions or are just intersted, please feel free to ask them at the forum, or directly at our forum (we have a separate division for enlglish speakers), I'll try to answer em best I can.

cheers!
b.

glad u like it I like it too.

The map was made by a friend of mine, who is not much into the CC scene as such, but who is a professional graphician. I gave him original military maps of the area and other stuff, and he did this brilliant job.

cheers.

GO THE POLES

Have had the pleasure of corresponding with a Polish CC fan before.
Janusz_Dziedzic gave me some excellent feedback on DOF.

A CCIV Monte Cassino mod, an excellent idea
A Fascinating battle that one.

You Poles have soooooooo much military history in your country.

Surely Poland would have a good war museum.

They can drive to Sandomierz, Goldap, Stargard, so many battlefields.

And not just WW2!

972 Battle at Cedynia

1004-1018 War against Germans

1241 Battle at Legnica (against Tatars)
The Mongol Hordes clashed there against the Teutonic Knights.

Wars against the Teutonic Order:
1320-1321, 1327-1332, 1339, 1409-1411, 1454-1466;
1331 Battle at Plowce
1410, July 15, Grunwald (Tannenberg) the Poles beat the Teutonic Knights.

caribacey, the tem is not fixed, there are around 4 - 7 people working, depending on the free time resources.

@ ArmeeGRuppeSud.

Wow! I'm impressed with your knowledge on Polish history, though u come from such a distant country!

Yes, the histroy did not have much mercy for my country, thus so many battles, causalties and so on. but whar can u do.

as to war museums - depending on what u expect. Actually there is no good ww II musem here. There's no singe e.g. pather or tiger tank in one piece at any exibition. None existant (melted in furnaces just after the war) or were smuggled towards the West of the Europe. Much better museums are in Germany and UK. But still there are some thngs worth seeing, here in Warsaw for example (like a missile form the "ZIU" Gerat 040 KArl-Morser http://wilk.wpk.p.lodz.pl/~whatfor/karl.htm or a nice collection of soviet equipment http://www.muzeumwp.pl/mptw/czolgi_mptw.html)

Except Europeans, there were also Americans engaged here. Even South Africans ! (in air support raids during the warsaw uprising).

cheers,
b.

Cheers folks!

As Michael asked us for an uptade on the mod, so here it is:

Generally, at the moment we go through the making of the tactic maps and beta testing the existing ones (few of them at the moment unf.). Things are going well, but it is quite slow process and pretty time-cosnuming as u know.
all I can write on it at the moment is that the maps are going to be rescaled to the scale of soldiers and vehicles to be more accurate.

Second, the things completed (more or less) are as follows:

- German vehicles rescaled, repainted, brand new ones by our graphics master Xprime:

http://jagdtiger.mm.pl/forum/viewtop...?p=29030#29030

polish (or allied in general) vehicles are not completed yet, though there are just minor issues of painting left.

- we have polish voices done, abminet sound being processed and the re-recording of german voices is on the schedule

- stratmap entered quite advanced state, it's ready in terms of division, the technical works in progress

http://jagdtiger.mm.pl/forum/viewtop...=101798#101798

the stratmap is compatible with possible future submods on Ist and IInd battle of Cassino Monastyr. the current submod covers the IIIrd battle (operation diadem, actually the polish engagement in it. yeah, some authors claim the diadem isi the IVth one, but that the secondary issue), so the frontline will diagonally cut the map form the lower left to the upper right (more or less acuratelly). germans are on the left, polish on the right side of the stratmap. in case of the Ist battle submod (americans as the allied side) the games might start form the map no. 44 (actualy it's 43 now, we've connected some two maps of the earlier numbering)

- we plan to modify the data, though it's not advanced yet.

- units icons based on real photographies (colored by Xprime) are almost compelted.

more or less that's all folks, if we reach some major progress, we'll let u know.

cheers!
