Sapa I've made a plugin for Karelia 1.1 -- but for some reason the Grand Camp. and the Karelian Ithmus camp. don't work for me. I think it must be something that I doing wrong in terms of loading the maps. Has anyone else mentions this?

Sapa,
I have been playing your mod, on and off, for about three weeks now. The maps are great, and I really enjoy the weaponry and durability of the Finnish troops, especially the Jaeger groups. I have played most of the battles and tried my hand at the campaign. Very interesting. The biggest drawback is the reluctance of the Soviets to organize and launch attacks, but that's the IA, so I'm not sure whether or not much can be done about that.

I do have a few items that I think could be improved upon though.

1. BT7A - The Soviets are using these as recce vehicles in the game. Now you might have more theatre-specific knowledge than I do, but it is my understanding that these vehicles had been superceded by the T-60 & T-70 series by 1943. By 1944, these vehicles would no longer be in front-line service.

2. SU-76 - The vehicle icon you have used for the SU-76 seems oversized for the game. It is at least as large as the SU-122, which it was considerably smaller than in reality. Additionally, the defence characteristics seem to indicate that this was a closed-top vehicle, with an armoured roof, rather than open-topped. In reality the crews were covered by a canvas tarp and, as such, were subject to indirect fire from mortars, etc... In the mod, mortars are unable to defeat this vehicle, nor are panzershrecks at anything further than 30 yards. I think that normally a grenadier with a rifle-grenade would be able to defeat this vehicle with a shot at 50 yards.

Other than those suggestions, the mod is first rate. Thanks for all your efforts.

Sorry Sapa,
I have the mod just not the time to install it and play.
I dont know what to think about Ironcross's statement about feed back, but geuss he's right. I dont remember there being much feed back for Okinawa when it came out or B.O. for that.I would hope that dosent discourage anyone to make a new mod, I myself hope to make some new maps for CCIV and hopefully a new strat screen im sure that wont get much attention unless by chance I can create something that will be pleasing to the masses. I would guess its like marketing a new product either it sells (tickle me Elmo) or it dosent (DeLorean)

Hey sapa. I'm on day 14 of the grand campaign, playing as russians. As was noted earlier, you picked some choice maps for the mod, and while playing defensively as the finns is fun, it's another thing entirely to play as the russkis. For one thing, it seems to me that the average 10 men soviet MG/rifle squad has problems attacking a 4 or 5-man finn group! It's frustrating (in a good way) to have a sizeable attacking russian platoon be cut down by well-entrenched finn fire. It's fun and challenging! I don't know if you purposefully tweaked the AI that way, but the finn soldier really seems superior to the russian 1 on 1. To me it seems to play well against the russian numerical advantage. The russian armor superiority is also countered by the panzerfausts carried by most finn squads, and this makes for some good balance.

Just to note though, weren't most russian regular infantry units equipped primarily with submachine guns (Ppsh41's) beginning in 1943? Seems to me that at least Guards units should have more SMG's and less rifles. Other than that, solid mod! Also, I trolled a few threads in this and other forums, to spread word about Karelia Mod, since it seemed to me that it wasn't getting enough publicity

Thanks you are right.I feel that in the future i will make an update to this mod.Maybe the Finns got a little to much panzerfaust and about the Guard units you are probably right. Many thanks for the feedback!

Greetings Mats

Hi,

I have played CC series from I-V, but never used network. Also I don't know anything about those patches: how to use them... I'd like to play CC III and CCIV in Windows XP, but these doesn't work. Only CCV works. How to fix that problem? I'd like to play the finnish winter war patches and others... Please help me!

regards, Ranpo

Sapa, just for the sake of good order, if I would happen to know a person willing to make a plug-in version, then I trust this would be ok for you?

Yes Tiger it is OK for me.The reason that Karelia is no plugin is simple.I dont know how to make one.Maybe i am starting to be an old CC player because i like to install the files manually.

Hello guys, thanks forever for the amazing work on mods- especially the Finn-Russo module Karelia, But I am using Win XP and although I'm putting all the GJS and Bloody Omaha Maps it still crashes sometimes about 10 seconds into a battle , sometimes it will crash to desktop when begin is pressed.....I followed the instructions and My guess is it has to do with the maps....is there anything I can do to keep this module from crashing all the time....

For example although the instructions for CCIV winter mod are detailed when you install it you have to figure out that you must copy the cd video folder to the main game folder for the mod to work.....are there any unusual things that are not specific for getting the Karelia mod to work with win xp besides the simple install instructions....please help .
