Default Budapest 1944-1945 mod started

Hauptmann, Kruger and me have begun to make a new mod for Close Combat V about the besieging of Budapest in 1944-1945.
We need the maps and photos of Budapest from this period of time.
We have roughly order of battle of the German and Hungarian troops, but we have not the detailed OoB of the Soviet and Romanian troops. We gather the informations about various weapons and equipment used by the opponents during this battle. We are also looking for somebody who could record Romanian battle screams. We plan to add the Romanians in new submod, because there can be three different voices in this game (Hungarian, Russian and German).
Everybody can join our team. We have Hungarian sounds almost completed.

I can provide Soviet TOEs and OOB...just give me some time.

Can also dig up Hungarian voices & weapon sounds if needed.

Good mod idea!

Of course I need it all, however as I wrote above I have almost all Hungarian sounds, but perharps ten. How did you get the sounds of the Hungarian weapon? I browsed whole Internet and could not find them...

Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Barbarossa has lots of voices and weapon sounds for Hungarian, Russian, Romanian, Finnish, Italian, and German troops.

Let me know the specifics and I will provide.

Good to hear, I love the battles of the Eastern Front. Will this mod entail a certain month of the battles around Budapest like the encirclement, the German Counter-Offensive in 1945 or both?

You know, its a problem, because there is a limit of the maps in Close Combat, so we decided to make a mod about the fights in the city only. Perharps we will need a graphician, because we do the first steps in the graphic programs. We want to avoid such a situation how in Red Storm Rising mod - there were no new maps and the maps for this mod have NOTHING common with the terrain in post-war Germany. For example there are too many bocages, hedges and too little urban terrains. No offense of course

This mod its only for fighting Allied and Axis troops in the siege of Budapest. Possibly, one operation for hipotetical situation - success of IV SS Armoured Corps which arrives to Budapest.
That is my proposition for the partition Axis troops in Budapest (on the basis of the Polish book: "Budapeszt 1944-45" of Marcin Sowa. He wrote this on the basis of the books of the Hungarian historians).

8th SS Cavalry Division
ca. 8000 soldiers, 29 tanks and self-propelled guns, 30 cannons, 17 heavy AT guns.
- Partition of 4 groups of SS cavalry with elements of battalions: armoured-reconaissance, artillery, engineers, AA, signal, tank destroyers
1 battlegroup - 15th SS cavalry regiment
2 battlegroup - 16th SS cavalry regiment
3 battlegroup - 17th SS cavalry regiment
4 battlegroup - 18th SS cavalry regiment
Division commander - Brigadeführer Joachim Rumohr

22nd SS Cavalry Division
11345 soldiers, 17 tanks and self-propelled guns, 37 cannon, 14 heavy AT guns
- Partition of 4 groups SS cavalry with elements of battalions: armoured-reconaissance, mechanized artillery, AA, tank destroyers, signal.
5 battlegroup - 52nd SS cavalry regiment
6 battlegroup - 53rd SS cavalry regiment
7 battlegroup -54th SS cavalry regiment
8 battlegroup - 55th regiment cavalry SS
Division commander - Brigadeführer August Zehender

13th Panzer Division
ca. 5000 soldiers (mainly crew: tanks, artillery and back services), 17 tanks (Pz.V and Pz.IV), artillery regiment - 35 mechanized guns (Hummel, Wespe), 8 heavy AT guns
- Partition of 2 armoured groups, with th elements of battalions: reconaissance, motorcycle, engineers and the rest infrantry soldiers (66th and 93rd riflemen regiments and 13th riflemen brigade).
9 battlegroup - I/4 panzer regiment
10 battlegroup - II/4 panzer regiment
Division commander - Generalmajor Schmidhuber

"Feldherrnhalle" Panzer Division
7255 soldiers, 24 tanks, 38 cannons, 9 heavy AT guns
- Partition of 2 groups panzergrenadieren with elements battalions: armoured, artillery (also mechanized) and 1 group reconaissance - armoured-reconaissance cars and motorcycles.
11 battlegroup - I/ Panzergrenadier-Regiment Feldherrnhalle
12 battlegroup - II/ Panzergrenadier-Regiment Feldherrnhalle
13 battlegroup - Panzer-Aufklarung-Abteilung Feldherrnhalle
Division commander - Generalmajor Günther Pape (he was out of siege of Budapest, I don't now who commanded the rest of division in the city)

271st Volksgrenadiere Division
ca. 1000 soldiers, 6 cannons, 4 heavy AT guns
- Partition of 1 group, remains of division + penal battalion
14 battlegroup - 271st Volksgrenadiere Division
Division commander - Oberstleutnant Kündiger

10th Infrantry Division (Hungarian)
ca. 7500 soldiers (only ca. 1000 fighting), 25 cannons, 3 heavy AT guns
- Partition of 3 groups of Hungarian infrantry with elements of battalions: artillery, AA, reconaiisance, engineers and signal
15 battlegroup - 6th Infrantry Regiment
16 battlegroup - 8th Infrantry Regiment
17 battlegroup - 18th Infrantry Regiment
Division commander - colonel Sándor András

12th Reserve Division (Hungarian)
ca. 4000 soldiers (only ca. 500 fighting), 26 cannons, 12 heavy AT guns
- Partition of 2 weak groups of Hungarian infrantry with elements batallions: signal, cavalry, AA, engineers.
18 battlegroup - 36th Infrantry Regiment
19 battlegroup - 38th Infrantry Regiment
Division commander - brigade-general István Baumann

1 st Armoured Division (Hungarian)
ca. 5000 soldiers (only ca. 500 fighting), 3 cannons, 3 heavy AT guns, 7 tanks
- Partition of 2 weak groups of motorized infrantry with elements rest of armoured regiment and battalions: armoured-reconaissance, artillery, AA, engineers.

21 battlegroup - II/2nd Motorized Infrantry Regiment.
Division commander - colonel Vértessy

Kampfgruppe "Billnitzer" (Hungarian)
ca. 2000 soldiers (only ca. 1000 fighting), 8 heavy AT guns, 30-32 self-propelled guns type Zrinyi II
Partition of 1 group of Hungarian motorized infrantry, AT guns and self-propelled guns
22 battlegroup - "Billnitzer" - the group was commanded by General Billnitzer Ernő.

Kampfgruppe "Vannaya" (Hungarian)
ca. 800 sodiers - a Hungarian allert-battalion of "cross-arrow" soldiers, brave, 2-line, volunter soldiers, excellent morale and very good knowledge of the city
- 1 group of Hungarian infantry with elements of many units, AA artillery
23 battlegroup - "Vannaya"
Group commander - major Laszlo Vannaya

IX Gebirgs Korps SS

1 regiment police SS - ca. 700 soldiers
battalion "Europa" - ca. 300 soldiers (from others units)
AA units - ca. 2000 soldiers, 72 AA guns (including 24 heavy ones)
- Partition of 1 group - infrantry, SS policemen, AA units, staff units
24 battlegroup - IX Gebirgs Korps SS
Corps commander - Obergruppenfuehrer Karl Pfeffer-Wildenbruch

The other Hungarian units attached to battlegroups:
6th AA division (all Hungarian AA artillery) - 168 AA guns, ok. 20-30 cannons, 3000-4000 soldiers
4th cavalry regiment - hussars (from Hungarian 1 Cavalry Division) - 250 soldiers,
2 academic battalions - ca. 1000 soldiers,,
5 batallion of Military Police - ca. 1000 soldiers,
Guard battalion - ca. 800 soldiers,
Cross-Arrow - ca. 4000 soldiers (without "Vannaya")
Police - ca. 7000 (only ca. 2000 fighting)
Back services - ca. 3000
Technical and work units - ca. 7000, no weapon and useless, disband 6.01.1945.

We still have 3 battle groups ( there can be 27 battle groups in Close Combat). I propose to make a hipotetical operation – “IV SS Panzer Korps gains Budapeszt” and those 3 groups will remain for this corps

If you don't mind the help of another Hungarian...
1. 17. SS Cavalry Regiment became a part of the 22. SS Cavalry Div. in may, 1944.; renamed 54. SS Cavalry Regiment (so these SS Cavalry Divisions had only three cav regiments each).
2. About those things you wrote about 13. Panzer Div. After 1943 German mechanised infantry was called panzergrenadiers, and infantry was called grenadiers (there were some schützen regiments also). In the panzer divs ther were no infantry brigades after 1943, and motorcycle units were found in armoured recon battalions, if there were not enough armoured vehicles (there weren't).

If you need help, just tell me, because as I see there are other mistakes in the OOB; and some problems with Hungarian spelling. I'll look after exact info about these things.
