   MAKING A MAP: Interior & Exterior TGAs

You need 2 'master' graphics to code your map. Thats what we will make in this section.

 

In the palette layer window,

Make sure you listened to what I said in the last section (Building Interiors) & you had the roofs for each building on top.

If that hasn't been done, please do it now.

Verify all you see are roofs on your buildings.

Now do the following:

Along top menu, file / save as

 

This will pop up. (You MIGHT have to find the path to the Groof2 folder inside the 'FirstMap'folder yourself! THAT IS WHERE WE WANT TO SAVE THESE 2 FILES in!)

As you see above you then choose the lower window & select 'Truevision Targa (*.tga)'.

This pops up.

 

Hit options in bottom right bottom button 'Options'. You'll see this.

This graphic MUST be saved as a 16 bit uncompressed TGA. IF that's cool, hit 'ok' otherwise make it so & hit 'ok'

Were now here again

Change the map name to 'OUT.tga'. Keep this in a folder you will keep all the map files for your map.

 

Now to the layer palet.

For all the roofs, click on the glasses so they red 'X' appears, you must to this for the two towers & 4 buildings for the map we have been doing.

When you look at the map, verify all you see are interiors for buildings!

 

When your sure of this, save this version as a 16 bit uncompressed TGA called 'in.tga'.

Now in the 'Groof2' folder inside the 'FirstMap' folder open it up & make sure you have saved these in the right place!

It should look like this:
